Bangla Tribune has raised a question about how Bangladeshi authorities handle two kinds of cases: investigations into people who go missing, which the outlet describes as slow, and investigations that follow a killing, which it says move quickly. The outlet published the comparison on Saturday, asking where the gap between the two lies.
The scrutiny comes amid reporting on the killing of Apratim, a case that has drawn wide coverage in the Bangladeshi press. According to The Daily Ittefaq, an iPhone connected to the case has been matched to three people described as "killers." The Daily Star Bangla, citing police, reported that Apratim's iPhone was recovered from the home of a detained man named Tuhin.
First Alo described the country as stunned by the loss of Apratim. RTV News reported that further cruelty was inflicted on Apratim's body at an isolated hill site.
